Teaching Environmental Protection at Jingyuetan Experimental Elementary School
Among all the research topics on children’s environmental awareness, few applied studies have investigated lower graders. In order to better understand the effects of environmental education on children’s knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, researchers conducted a study to determine if there was a correlation between the level of exposure to environmental education and children’s knowledge. The resulting results were used to develop a classroom framework for teaching environmental protection in elementary schools.
The study found that narrative-based environmental education was effective in improving children’s knowledge of environmental protection. This type of education was the first to incorporate the use of video clips, dramas, and games in order to improve children’s environmental knowledge.
