Being a business owner is tough. There is so much responsibility, but also so much freedom. It sounds like a dream come true, right? But when you’re running a business, it doesn’t matter how small you are; there are still things you must do every day. Being accountable is key to keeping yourself focused and productive. Here are some tips to help you stay focused and accountable. Let’s see these effective ways to be accountable being a business owner!
1. Set Goals
Setting goals is the first step towards achieving anything in life. For entrepreneurs, setting clear goals is essential to staying motivated and making sure you’re doing all the little things necessary to achieve big results.
Start by listing out everything you need to accomplish before you reach your goal. Be realistic, and set achievable short term goals and long term ones.
For example, I’ve been wanting to write a book for awhile now. So my short term goal was to finish writing the first draft of the book. My long term goal is to publish the book and sell copies.
2. Write Down Everything
Once you’ve written down your goals, make sure you write them down somewhere you’ll see them everyday. Posting them on your refrigerator door is a simple yet effective way to remind yourself of your goals.
I used to put my goals on sticky notes and stick them around my house. Nowadays, I just type them into Evernote and save them in a folder called “goals”.
3. Check Off Each Task As Completed
You may think that having a bunch of tasks hanging over your head is stressful, but it actually makes you feel accomplished. When you complete a task, cross it off and move onto the next one. Don’t wait until the end of the week to check off your tasks. Doing so will only leave you feeling overwhelmed.

4. Reward Yourself
It’s okay to reward yourself after completing something awesome! Whether you treat yourself to a coffee date or a night out with friends, rewarding yourself is a great way to motivate yourself to continue striving for greatness.
5. Stay Organized
Keeping track of your tasks is crucial to accomplishing your goals. Use a calendar app on your phone or computer to organize your daily schedule. Also, try to prioritize your tasks based on importance and urgency.
For example, if you have a lot of emails to answer, make sure you respond to them first. It’s one of the effective ways to be accountable being a business owner. Once you’ve completed your email inbox, tackle your social media pages.
6. Have Fun
Remember that you’re doing this for fun too. Take breaks throughout the day to enjoy yourself. Enjoy your successes and celebrate your accomplishments.
7. Use Technology
Technology is changing the world we live in, and businesses are starting to adapt to these changes. One example is mobile technology. Many businesses now allow customers to order items online and pick them up at their local store. Another example is social media. Social media allows you to connect with your customers and build relationships with them.
