The cutest enemies in the Pikmin games are here!
In the Pikmin series, the characters are just the right amount of cute and gross, which makes you and Olimar interested in the big world around you. It’s impossible not to look everywhere to see what kind of animal you can find next.
Some animals are too cute to beat, but there are a lot that would be in the running for the cutest enemy you don’t want to fight. They could eat you or harm you, but look at them! How could you hurt these scary things? Your favorite person might not be down below, but they still deserve your love.
Mamuta
When you look at this big, heavy thing, you might quickly think of a pillow that can talk. You’re pretty close to the truth, to be honest.
These calm animals won’t bother you until you show them anger (and violence), which will make them stop and think. That’s when they’ll lose their cute temper and try to stomp you to the ground.
There are armbands on their arms that are only on Mamutas if you look closely. This is a sign that they might be intelligent, which is another reason to be careful when you come across one in the wild.
Wollywogs
The willy-wog is a unique animal. They are based on real frogs, but because they are so big and swollen, they look like balloons.
They have big, innocent eyes and little front hands that hold up their round bodies, so it’s easy to let down your guard when you see them.
On the other hand, Wollywogs are known to be very dangerous and have great stomping power in all the games where they appear. They have so much power that they’ll send your Pikmin several inches away with the waves of his kicking feet.
Even if you want to hug it, you might be better off leaving it alone.
Crumbugs
Who wouldn’t want a cute smile on their bread when they wake up? Crumbugs are cute and don’t hurt you much. The 3DS game Hey! has these cute loaves. Pikmin in more than one place.
People have found them with smiles on their faces all the time and no threats.
This doesn’t mean that your doughy friends can’t hurt you or your Pikmin. Not at all, no. Even though crumbugs don’t have weapons, you’ll need to move quickly if they happen to run into Pikmin in its path.
Grub-dogs
It’s only normal that this creature comes to mind when you think of Pikmin. It was the original poster boy and the main focus of the North American case. At least not the Pikmin and The Captain.
They’re pretty big, and the fact that they’re basically just a head with two tiny legs connected makes them stand out.
Different places have different kinds of grub-dogs that are different sizes and colors. It’s also normal for more than one kind to live in the same family. If you’re not careful, you’ll want to hug them and run away from them at the same time. But they probably don’t want to hug you back.
Fiery Blowhog
Other enemies are cute because they have big eyes and short legs, but this Blowhog is more simple in how it looks. Their bodies are all white and are held together by a few simple joints.
The two pigs can be told apart by the color of their noses, just like the Watery Blowhog.
In terms of the nose, you can’t deny that the way it’s puckered up makes it look like it means to kiss you on the cheek. But if you try to get close, you and your Pikmin will catch fire.
Toady Bloyster
Did you ever think you’d be calling a blob of goo that kind of talks cute? Sometimes people find cute things in strange places, but the Toady Bloyster is here to go against all your predictions. Take a look at those blue, empty eyes! Their color is cute and goes well with their (kind of) pale purple, gooey skin.
Something about the way the Bloyster moves makes you want to stick your finger in it. Not to hurt it or anything, but just for fun, be careful when you get close to the jelly-like wonder; it will probably try to harm you and your Pikmin to protect itself.
Red Spectralid
The Red Spectralid is the only creature on this list that isn’t an enemy and won’t attack you. Instead, it will try to fly away with its life and the Ultra-Spicy Nectar drop that it has saved for a rainy day. It’s almost a shame that you have to cut some off to get that juice.
Red Spectralids have big, pretty wings, a body that looks like a moth, and goofy eyes that they can use to beg for their lives! When you see these cute little guys, you can’t help but wish you could be friends with them on all of Captain’s adventures in Drift Boss.
Downy Snagrets
When you think of baby birds (looking at you, swans), it’s easy to see why they have the image of being…not cute at all when they’re that little. They had it rough before puberty because their heads looked big and heavy, and their feet were very small and webbed.
Instead of following the norm, the Downy Snagrets are the cutest girls you want to hold in your pocket.
It goes without saying that if you see a bunch of these little cuties hanging out in unhatched nectar eggs, all of your alarms should go off. Their big, thick-necked parents are always close by, even though they’re underground.
Breadbugs
This bug looks like a fluffy piece of bread. What more could you want? A soft “friend,” the Breadbug doesn’t mean any harm to you or your Pikmin. All they want to do is hide in their nest without any problems. It doesn’t matter that they hold an important part of your ship.
As was already said, breadbugs tend to have…sticky fingers? Feet? Anyway, they’ll steal both small and big things from you, which will slow you down. If there are Pikmin nearby when the breadbugs try to dig, you will lose some of them as they dig.
