If you like tough games, try these Nintendo Switch strategy games.
You might really enjoy both Nintendo Switch and strategy games. You’re in luck because the system has some of the best games of the age and the whole genre. For those who like to get a little more tactical, there are tons of great strategy games out there.
Even better, the Nintendo Switch has an amazingly wide range of strategy games with creative and unique gameplay features. Many of the console’s easier strategy games are also worth mentioning because they are easy enough for people who are new to the genre to pick up, but hard enough for people who are used to making the best moves.
Fire Emblem Engage
Fire Emblem Engage is a fun little strategy game that will take some getting used to, but it’s not as well-known as other games in the series. You will mostly be in charge of Alear, but as always, you are in charge of the lives of every unit in the army you build.
Engage is similar to another game on the list in how it works. But that doesn’t mean it should be ignored. Fans of the show will enjoy a lot, especially since many well-known figures from the past will be appearing.
Dicey Dungeons
A lot of people who like both roguelikes and deck-builders will likely like Dicey Dungeons. As usual, you have to complete a set of tasks in order to escape your fate. However, this game feels different from other big names in the same genre.
As you might expect from a roguelike, you’ll have to try run after run. So you’ll need to be able to calm down while you figure out which run is best for your character. Being able to use dice in fun ways might surprise you in how long you keep playing Dicey Dungeons.
Civilization 6
The Civilization series has been around for a long time and is very popular. So it’s hard not to have heard of it by now. Creating a society from almost nothing and making it the most powerful in the world is the whole point of the game.
Making the perfect society is surprisingly hard because you have to think about so many different things at once. While you need to keep growing your society, you’ll also need to keep making deals with other people to keep doing well without too much chaos.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
A lot of people loved Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, which is an easy and fun little strategy game. It’s not hard to see why. Putting Mario and the Rabbids together was a choice that no one knew they needed but loved right away.
This game is great for people who are new to the genre. Because it has simple ways to customize it, maps, and some surprisingly hard tasks. Every part of the game is made with so much love that you might want to play the next one as soon as you finish this one.
Slay The Spire
For some, some strategy games can feel too much like each other. Slay the Spire could be the right way to avoid that. You have to make tough decisions and have a lot of luck to win the game, which is kind of like making a deck.
You can try out different characters and builds in Slay the Spire. So you should play it as many times as you can to find the best way to use each one. There aren’t many people who can really beat the game, but you might be up to the challenge.
Pikmin 4
People haven’t always loved the Pikmin series as much as other series. But it’s always been there, ready for new people to pick it up. Pikmin 4 takes the old-school gameplay and adds whole new layers on top of it, making the whole thing very exciting.
It’s up to you to save all of your old friends with the help of the title figures, the Pikmin. It’s not the hardest game, but it’s a creative one that’s great for beginners and people who want to try something new.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks Of Hope is a great strategy game for beginners that works a lot like the first game in the series. They got what they wanted because it’s a bigger game than the first one. It also has some key changes from the first one and some new characters.
You are now in charge of saving the Sparks and beating the Cursa. Along the way, you will find some amazing wonders. Because of the few changes that were made, some people like this game better than the first one. That may or may not be true, but both games are fun to play.
Valkyria Chronicles 4
You should really check out Valkyria Chronicles 4 if you like strategy games with some war in them. As you fight for your home country of Gallia, you’ll be in charge of a group of specially trained troops. However, things quickly get more complicated.
To come up with the best plan, you’ll need to look at the map and see things from the point of view of your unit. This is because some maps will be much harder to play on without any units or characters. Don’t let that tank fall, and have faith in your units.
Into The Breach
You should read Into the Breach. When you play this turn-based strategy game, you fight the huge Vek. Spacebar Clicker seems pretty easy at first glance, but you’ll be shocked at how many things you need to think about with every move.
For new players, this is one of the hardest strategy games on the Switch, but that’s what makes it fun. As in other games, you’ll have to think about how to play this one differently than others. Because you have to use your mechs to destroy the Vek and keep innocent people safe.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Feel free to play Fire Emblem: Three Houses if you want to enjoy a great strategy game with some life simulation elements. You, as Byleth, will pick a group of kids to talk to for the rest of the game, both during school days and during the terrible war.
The simple strategy gameplay of the Fire Emblem games is shown. But with some nice changes. So many people love this book in the series, and it’s easy to see why. You’ll become very close with all of your students who become your war partners.
